Surf Point Archives


Surf Point’s Archive Room is comprised of materials from three separate bodies, the Surf Point Collection, Mary-Leigh Smart’s Collection, and Beverly Hallam’s Collection.

Surf Point Collection

This collection includes architectural material related to Surf Point, Wild Knoll, and the Surf Point Foundation. It includes blueprints and interior design plans, as well as land surveys relating to the parcel at 32 Surf Point Road. Additionally, paper and print material pertaining to maintenance and history of the house, the Surf Point Trust, as well as Surf Point Foundation papers. Print material includes albums and photographs documenting the house.

Mary-Leigh Smart Collection

This collection documents the personal and professional life of philanthropist and art collector Mary-Leigh (nèe Call) Smart. The papers include biographical material, correspondence, photographic material, artwork, and sound recordings. The collection also includes materials relating to her husband J.Scott Smart that includes his personal papers and ephemeral, as well as handmade cards, drawings, and poems he created for Mary-Leigh.

Beverly Hallam Collection

This collection documents the personal and professional life of the artist Beverly Hallam. The papers include biographical material, correspondence, photographic material, artwork, and sound recordings. In addition are materials related to teaching, lecturing, and exhibiting.
